Preparing for Treatment

Before starting your therapy, please review the following:

  • Bring all medications with you on your first visit.
  • Avoid cosmetics since they often contain petroleum, which can pose a hazard during hyperbaric therapy.
  • We will provide 100 percent cotton clothing for you to wear in the hyperbaric chamber.
  • Remove all jewelry, hearing aids, and prostheses. We recommend bathing daily and washing your hair frequently.
  • Avoid using any hairspray and nail polish.
  • Refrain from smoking at least two hours before and after treatment, as smoking narrows blood vessels and can interfere with treatment.
  • We administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments 5 days per week, requiring your presence for approximately two and a half hours each day. The treatment course varies by diagnosis but typically involves 20-40 treatments.
  • Our staff will evaluate you before and after your therapy.
  • Do not consume any alcohol before treatment.
  • Eat a regular meal before treatment, which is crucial for diabetic patients.
  • Take any prescribed medications as usual before arriving, including pain medication, and inform our staff during your evaluation.
  • If you have a cold or any sinus congestion, inform our staff upon arrival, as this may affect the use of nasal sprays and decongestants.
